History of Glitter BayGlitter Bay was originally the private domain of Sir William Cunard, the owner of the famous steamship line. His Great House still exists at the entrance to the property. In 1980, a 40 unit condo was developed by Mr. Pemberton along the northern edge of the property. This then became the Pemberton Princess Hotel, which was later purchased by the Fairmont Royal Pavilion next door. |

In 2004, the property was purchased by John Hargreaves who built a private mansion on the South end of the beach, thus leaving the beautiful grounds intact. In 2005, most of the property was refurbished, including both the Sea Turtle Suite and Penthouse. Glitter Bay Estates has been visited by many celebrities, most recently by H.R.H. Prince Harry.
The architecture reveals a definite Spanish influence, with whitewashed walls and terra cotta roofs. All of the balconies face South West with an excellent view of the grounds, the sunset and our own family of Green Monkeys! The Sea Turtle condos both have excellent views of the sea. Glitter Bay is the only property in Barbados where the footprint of the buildings is only a small portion of the beautifully manicured grounds. This can clearly be seen on Google Earth (13º 12' 02" N, 59º 38' 29" W).
